In 1930, Pierre Ryckmans was part of the study group that delved into the labour issue in Belgian Congo. Apart from Ryckmans, the group consisted of colonial counsellor A. Bertrand, honorary vice-governor-general A. Engels, delegated administrator of Forminière A.
