Leopold II influenced the (inter)national community in a truly masterly manner in order to achieve his goal. He manoeuvered ably on the diplomatic floor, created a whole cluster of organisations and manipulated the public opinion by means of media campaigns. The Société Antiesclavagiste de Belgique served as moral cloak for the real goals and fought against Arabic slave traders who also controlled ivory trade.
